This was the first year of this showcase but it didn’t look like it! The OHAS put on by Maxhoops, Salem Hoop, and Seattle Select High Academic was full of talent at it’s beautiful Lewis and Clark College location. The showcase included 70 of the top student-athletes in the NW was a huge hit for all the high academic college coaches that attended.
This year’s tour included UPS, Pacific Lu, George Fox, Lewis and Clark and Willamette. We were very fortunate to meet with the head and assistant coaches to tour their campuses and athletic facilities. The student-athletes were able to learn more about their schools and majors and interact with college coaches. We were happy to have players and parents from other AAU teams join our tour!
This June coach Chase Young is offering special clinics for 3 on 3 teams to build chemistry, learn fundamentals, and get sharp before Hoopfest. Players are welcome to join even if they don’t have a team. These are great clinics with a lot of live play, competition and fun!
Description: 4 week course with session 1.5 hours long. These sessions will include basketball fundamentals and concepts as well as special break down through 3-on-3 training and live scrimmage. For teams wanting to get ready for Hoopfest this is a great way to get your team prepared and build some chemistry by practicing, training, and competing together.
You don’t have to be on a 3-on-3 team to participate in this class nor do you have to have your entire team register for it. These sessions are fun, productive, challenging, and really help improve their skills and love for the game.

Seattle Select High Academic 17u team went 4-0 in the WCE NorCal Showcase in the Bay area last weekend. The team played great defense and team basketball. There were many college coaches and scouts at the games and the team created a lot of buzz. The next travel event will be to the Oregon High Academic Showcase May 25th at Lewis and Clark College. Following the one day showcase, all the Seattle Select teams will travel to Salem Oregon for the Memorial Day Tournament May 26-28th at the Hoop.
Chase Young took his 17u Seattle Select High Academic to the Bay to compete in the NorCal Showcase presented by Gerry Freitas and Ryan Silver. While there the team visited Cal Berkeley and St. Mary’s College and were able to get to know their campuses and walk around their gyms and sports facilities. Both colleges are highly ranked with Berkeley #21 in National Universities and St. Mary’s #9 in Regional Universities West.
This year’s tour of some of the NWC colleges is set for Friday, May 25th. So far the list of high academic colleges along our tour will be University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran, George Fox, and Lewis and Clark. NW elite student-athletes can also opt to join portions of the trip if travel is a concern.
